EEA membership in the Global Education Coalition

The EEA is incredibly proud to announce that we have joined UNESCO’s Global Education Coalition (GEC). Joining the GEC means we will be able to contribute to the Coalition’s important work in supporting countries to advance equity-first, research-backed approaches to digital transformation in education.

The Global Education Coalition is currently engaged in 233 projects across 112 countries impacting 400 million learners and 12 million teachers.

Launched in 2020, it now has 225 institutional partners working across 112 countries to ensure inclusive and equitable quality education. The Coalition catalyzes action to support education systems worldwide through its four action-oriented and target-driven missions that seek to:

  1. Help learners and youth gain skills needed for employability

  2. Assist teachers with their professional development by advancing their digital and pedagogical capacities

  3. Offer learners access to cost-free supplemental educational resources and instruction anywhere and at any time

  4. Work towards mainstreaming gender equality in and through education

The European Edtech Alliance is leading a workstream as part of the Digital Transformation Collaborative - a tech-focused subgroup of the membership that aims to mobilize resources at the national level in collaboration with governments to leverage sustainable digital transformation in education to achieve SDG 4.

In addition, the EEA facilitated a workshop during the Global Education Coalition meeting last March, which kicked off a productive sequence of discussions on the importance of an allianceof alliances.
