UNESCO Digital Learning Week 2023
The EEA is proud to have been invited to participate in a panel with global experts on the topic of the use of data in education at the Digital Learning Week in Paris. It has been wonderful to see so many of our members and to be inspired about the potential and challenges of AI in education, to learn more about some of the key hurdles to EdTech implementation, and to connect with so many experts who are furthering innovation in digital education. Our thanks go to UNESCO for hosting this event.
The EEA was involved in discussing the importance of data for learning and saw several key reports and guidelines launched and discussed. Check out our ‘Worth Reading’ section below to catch up on these. It is vitally important to better understand the effects and impact of the technologies used in education, however, we caution that it is imperative in this debate to clearly differentiate between tech developed specifically for education and tech used in education (e.g. conference tech like Zoom). It also remains essential to remember that the emergency remote teaching practices of the pandemic cannot be effectively compared with EdTech environments specifically designed for remote teaching practices.
